A group of people sitting in a meeting, representing partner with us

Since opening our office in Belgrade in 1940, we have strengthened ties between the UK and Serbia’s education and cultural sectors through diverse initiatives, reaching thousands annually.

Our English language programmes benefit over 10,000 students each year, and more than 5,000 teachers enhance their skills through our professional development initiatives. Our integration of new technologies and support for academic exchanges have elevated educational standards. We support the development of a vibrant creative economy through trainings for creative professionals, research, and knowledge exchange. Additionally, we are active in forging UK-Serbian artistic collaborations, supporting various arts sectors through creative collaborations, events, festivals, art exhibitions and music performances.

The British Council is dedicated to advancing Serbia’s economy and society through strategic cooperation in the creative economy, education, and support for a diverse media landscape. Our initiatives will continue to foster strong cultural connections, with a particular emphasis on English language and arts collaborations.

With extensive experience working alongside institutional partners such as state ministries and grassroots initiatives, we are actively seeking partners to help us achieve our ambitious goals. Our global insights, deep local understanding, and trusted brand help us ensure that our programs are innovative, impactful, and create lasting change.
