Background

The British Council partnered with the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN), Thomson Foundation, and INTRAC on this programme funded by the UK Government.

The initiative supported media outlets across the Western Balkans to become more financially and structurally resilient, improve gender equality in the workplace, and enable them to produce more relevant quality content.

We teamed up with journalists, editors, media owners, and a broad audience. The program gave customized business development support, boosted communication between citizens and media outlets, backed youth media and young journalists, and promoted gender-sensitive reporting.

Programme Components

“Media for All” encompassed several key components designed to empower participants. It offered comprehensive training programmes to enhance skills and knowledge, tailored mentorship for personalized guidance and growth, and fostered regional cooperation and networking opportunities to build strong connections and collaborations across different regions.
