Online teaching but not as you know it!

26 FEBRUARY AT 15.15 | HALL 'INSERT'

This session focuses on the application of Learning Design (LD) approach to redesigning of a face-to-face course for online delivery. A significant import of the LD approach is in engendering systematic exploration of the design space and better reveals opportunities and risks within. LD approach shows promise in tackling common problems associated with online-course design and delivery.

Dejan is a lecturer at the Kingston University in London. Dejan's research in Technology Enhanced Learning has contributed to prominent UK research programmes. His present focus is in applying research to practice, exemplified in a software tool, that Dejan developed, for systematic development and refinement of curriculum design methods, processes and products.

PRESENTATION

Towards Timeless Goals using Timely Means

The presentation revisits Freire’s Critical Pedagogy in the context of current state of EdTech. Through the prism of EDTech the focus is on two key problems Freire identified: reduction of coercive tension inherent in teacher-learner dynamic, and, promotion of student self-reflection and self-realization, leading to the transition from being an object in the world to being a subject in the world.
