More than 50 speakers from Serbia, the region and the UK prepared interesting presentations about creative ways of using ICT in education.

Apart from the presentations held at the conference (halls 'Space', 'Insert' and 'Alt'), the fair exhibitors organised lectures and presentations at their stands and at the central fair stand Enter ExpoHub.

Technology Every Day at Mulberry School for Girls

This is an overview of the use of ICT every day to create an inclusive environment. This presentation explained what an inclusive education means, how it works and how it is enhanced by ICT.

Animation for Communication

This presentation focused on bringing topics to life for those students that need to be engaged in more multi-sensory and kinaesthetic activities to help them to understand and retain information. It also showed how animation can help improve literacy and speech and language skills.

LJILJANA KRKIĆ | DANNY GOORIS

Oracle Academy, are you ready?

Ljiljana and Danny presented the overview of the Oracle Academy program and they will talked about the skills set gap of 2020.

During her ten-years long employment with Oracle, Ljiljana has covered multiple positions in different lines of business. During the last eight years she has been the Oracle University Country Leader for Serbia, Montenegro and Bulgaria, and the Oracle Academy Program Manager for Serbia and Montenegro. 

Danny has more than 15 years of experience managing vendor-led technology education programmes. He looks after the Oracle Academy Europe, the Middle East and Africa, as a Senior Manager, and is responsible for strategic initiatives and private-public partnerships. Danny’s global experience contributes to his passion for ensuring that young people develop the skills to become the leaders of the future.

SAMSUNG IN EDUCATION

Education is changing rapidly. Today, our children use devices that didn’t even exist ten years ago. Accessibility of internet, new technologies and knowledge-on demand will shape the education system in years to come. Samsung is actively involved in shaping the new education system with its solutions in this area.

Marko’s main focus in Samsung Electronics is helping large systems take full advantage of new technology solutions and improve their business processes. 

MILOŠ BAJČETIĆ

Digital age - the age of distraction

Miloš is a lecturer at the School of Medicine in Belgrade and the chairman of the board of directors of the Moodle Network in Serbia. The aim of his presentation was to point out some ‘mistakes’ and stereotypes when it comes to the implementation of new educational technologies. These mistakes and stereotypes originate from insufficient understanding of new media characteristics, unrealistic expectations and lack of knowledge of the contemporary research in the field of neuroscience, cognitive psychology and pedagogy.

CREATING DIGITAL EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS FOR INCLUSIVE VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS

Mirjana works as a school pedagogue. In her presentation, she talked about increasing efficiency of theoretical and practical teaching for students with disabilities and learning difficulties in the school’s workshop by using ICT — camera, PC, projector, e-learning platforms and Web 2.0 tools.

Final Exam – A Platform for Equal Inclusion of Students in the Educational Process

Final Exam is an educational platform that contains questions from the area of Mathematics and Serbian language and literature meant for students who are in the process of preparing for the final exam at the end of 8th grade. Specially adapted questions make the use of ICT possible for students in the process of inclusive education which increases their knowledge. The platform is free and published online. With the use of the platform, students in the process of inclusive education will become more independent, and by common educational means they will prepare themselves for their future professional and social life among peers.

The development of study programmes for digital competences of teachers

Miroslava iz a professor at the Teachers Education Faculty in Belgrade. The aim of her presentation was to show the existing experience in the development of study programmes for obtaining digital competence of future primary school teachers and preschool teachers at the Teachers Education Faculty in Belgrade. By analysing past experiences, a pilot project called EduDigital+ has been developed in order to digitally support teaching IT subjects and the use of modern ICT in teaching.

However, we need to keep in mind that innovation is a process and that it comes from people. In education, this is even more evident. Today, innovation is enabling many opportunities and easier access to information.

WHY THE WORLD NEEDS WATSON?

The audience heared more about the latest developments of IBM's natural language system 'Watson'.  Watson is a cognitive technology that processes information more like a human than a computer—by understanding natural language, generating hypotheses based on evidence and learning as it goes.

Paul Fryer is an experienced professional with more than 30 years of experience in the IT industry out of which more than 15 on different positions within IBM. Currently, he holds a position of Academic Initiative Leader, Europe and is based in the UK. He encourages his audiences to use the latest thinking and technologies to ensure that students leaving colleges and universities have the right skills for employment in the rapidly evolving work environment.
