Get to know our partners and co-organizers on journey of introducing ICT solutions to education in Western Balkans region. In parallel with our two-day conference, we also organised a fair where over 30 ICT companies and educational institutions presented the latest technological solutions in education that they developed or introduced to the market. The participants were able to visit their stands, try out interactive classroom solutions, find out how to use the internet for high quality teaching and see a micro:bit devices for coding.

Main activities of the UNO-LUX NS Company are design, development and engineering in the fields of process automation and machinery, development of supervision and control systems, as well as development of measurement and data acquisition systems. At the fair, in addition to its educational products Hopscotch and PAT 02, the company plans to present the sensory and measuring equipment intended for use in school laboratories and classrooms manufactured by Vernier.

GCompris is a set of educational programs enabling inclusion of all students in the teaching process, development of information, communication and social competences in students, same as functional reading.

All three speakers are engaged in the 'Vežbaonica' school and Model school for inclusive education; they are lecturers at international conferences on the use of ICT in education, national trainers for inclusive education for secondary schools, and Valentina is also a trainer for primary schools. Veselinka and Valentina are teacher mentors and authors, as well as implementers of accredited trainings 'Child Tailor-made Classes' and 'IT crumbs'; Veselinka is an author of the 'Maths Workshop' training.

iLab in class teaching

This paper is an overview of introduction and application of iPad within iLab in class in the Primary School “Vežica” in Rijeka, from idea to implementation. Using iPad as a tool in teaching, Vedran and Ksenija have, as lower-grade teachers, got an opportunity to develop students’ digital competences and computer literacy, help them enter the world of technology quickly and intuitively.  Ksenija has been working for 20 years as a lower-grade class teacher at Primary School “Vežica” in Rijeka, and a coordinator of the UNICEF “School without Violence” project. She finished Apple education for the use of iPad and iLab in classes and is a member of the school iLab team. Vedran works as a music teacher in same school. With school choir participated in children festivals. Besides in class teaching, she is using iPad in music classes within the iSchool project for the second year in a row.

Detecting learning styles from transactional data of online students

Learning styles represent a collection of personal preferences concerning the presentation manner of learning material and the very character of the learning material. In this presentation, Velimir will talk about detection of learning styles from the data students leave behind surfing LMS system and browsing through teaching material. Knowing individual learning styles helps adapt LMS to each individual student. His presentation discusses Virtual Laboratories in distance education and professional training in engineering sciences, based on three criteria: realistic behaviour, realistic user interface, and realistic visual impression.

Studying digital natives among students

The purpose of this study is to assess the level to which future educators think they possess attributes connected to “digital natives”- students whose native tongue is the digital language of computers, mobile phones, video games and the Internet. What was taken into account are the potential benefits and application of scale for assessment of digital natives by researchers and teachers. Verica Milutinović is assistant professor at the Faculty of Pedagogical Sciences, University of Kragujevac. She teaches subjects in the area of computer science, and in her scientific and research work she has been engaged in exploring pedagogical changes and innovation in the area of computer application in classes. Her interests include IT supported learning, embracing computers in classes, use of innovative computer tools in maths classes.
