Goran is currently working at the Optoelectronics Research Centre, University of Southampton. In this presentation he described the Peer Instruction method implemented via Electronic Voting. Then, he then briefly introduced the Just-in-Time-Teaching method, used in a form of assignments posted on the Blackboard online environment. Finally, he gave recommendations for interactive teaching of engineering subjects.
Prof. Mashanovich received Dipl. Ing and MSc degrees from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade, Serbia, and PhD in silicon photonics from the University of Surrey, UK. He is a head of Mid-infrared silicon photonics group at the University of Southampton, UK. He is currently investigator on projects worth £20m. He has published more than 300 peer reviewed journal and conference papers.
In order to give my students fast and focused feedback, and to provide an environment for useful discussions in class, I have been using various electronic voting systems over the last few years. I will present my experience with different systems and also recent teaching approach which focuses on improving students assessment and feedback skills.
Gordana works at the Croatian academic and research network – CARNet in the Department of education support. CARNet has been working on projects introducing ICT into Croatian schools for over 15 years, leading to a massive structural project encompassing approximately 70 per cent of schools and aiming for a digitally mature education system. One of the key projects contributing to digital maturity of Croatian schools is ICT Curricula.
On the panel entitled "Strengthening Digital Capacity of the School with the help of Selfi Instrument", a contemporary model for the assessment of the electronic maturity of educational institutions called Selfi, supported by the European Commission, will be discussed. From the next school year, Selfi will use a large number of schools in Europe and will also be available for schools in Serbia.
Currently, the pilot phase is completed in 14 European countries, including Serbia, and from the 2018/19 school year will be available to all schools in Europe in all the languages of the member countries and in the Serbian language.
Gordana is a teacher that helps future educators and teachers to develop and improve their digital competencies. She worked in several Belgrade schools and at the Evaluation Institute, and is currently a teaching assistant at the Teacher Training Faculty. She is the author of a number of papers in the field of educational technology, participant of TIMSS research, expert translator and origami lover. Scientix ambassador and Plato teacher.
By using QR codes and expanded reality in teaching, the content on paper receives a new dimension. Zap code, as a combination of the benefits of QR codes and extended reality, creates a stimulating learning environment and aids development of advanced digital competencies in teachers and students. Using new technologies in teaching students will make their knowledge more fundamental and lasting.
Dr Gordana Velikić was born in Novi Sad, and she acquired her doctorate on the University of Rochester, USA. She was a deputy director at the Centre For Future Health on the same University. She was an organizer of many conferences and she was using modern technology during lectures. At this time she is responsible for scientific programmes in RT-RK and is in charge of projects which shape today’s technology.
