Get to know our partners and co-organizers on journey of introducing ICT solutions to education in Western Balkans region. In parallel with our two-day conference, we also organised a fair where over 30 ICT companies and educational institutions presented the latest technological solutions in education that they developed or introduced to the market. The participants were able to visit their stands, try out interactive classroom solutions, find out how to use the internet for high quality teaching and see a micro:bit devices for coding.

BIOGRAPHY

Sarah Ellis is currently Senior Assessment Services Manager, Europe for Cambridge Assessment English.  She has an extensive background in teaching and teacher training. She has been involved with Cambridge English exams for over 20 years.  Sarah has also worked with teachers on CELTA and DELTA courses. She is based in Italy.

The digital teacher

This session is designed to support teachers in extending their knowledge of digital tools and resources for developing their students' language skills both in and out of the classroom and will include practical ideas for teachers to use for language development and exam preparation. The session will also look at professional development for teachers (CPD) and introduce the Cambridge English Digital framework as a tool for teachers to enhance their own professional development in ‘digital’ competences and skills.

 

Sari Halavaara and Juha-Pekka Lehtonen

BIOGRAPHY

Sari and Juha-Pekka have been teaching history and social studies as a team last 25 years actively developing teaching and learning. Their main ambition is to facilitate digitalization of learning. They are both textbook authors and advisory teachers in City of Espoo, Finland. They have been awarded as History Teacher of the Year 2012 and Apple Distinguished Educators (ADE) 2017.

Escape - Breakout Rooms in Education

The escape room is an event for about an hour where participants are locked in a separate space. There is a dimension of mystery and a wide range of challenges. The goal is to get out of the room within the deadline. Teamwork is needed to succeed. This presentation shows how to combine ICT and the elements and intensity of escape rooms to promote learning and gives practical tips for own games.

ScienceScope Ltd is a high tech micro SME specialising in school sensing systems for the IOT (Internet of Things) digital making and coding. We led an Innovate UK funded project to build an Internet of School Things (IOST) demonstrator project. We are currently working with the Singapore IDA on developing IOT@School across the country. 

We are a tier 1 partner with the BBC to develop the BBC micro:bit. A low cost device that will be given to every 11 year old student in the UK in March 2016 of this year. We have just been awarded a contract together with our Partner Homefix to deliver 100,000 micro:bits to schools in Singapore.
